Mike, I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy the Youth Benefit Golf Tournament you and your crew put on every year. It is an event that my friends and I look forward to every year. I have played in many fundraiser golf tournaments over the years, but rarely had as much fun, or played in a so well organized event. I look forward to sponsoring and playing for many years to come in the tournament! It’s a great cause, well run, amazing event!

Hello Mike! I’m Lynda and Lee Harrington’s brother-in-law. I have played in your charity tournament the past two years.
I’ve played in other tournaments but none of them have been so well organized and just plan fun! I’m so impressed with all the coffee, water and juices to keep us all hydrated and early morning breakfast sweets and fruit to get us ready to go. If that was not enough, your volunteer crew brings more snack on the course during play and hot dogs at the turn! Not to mention water and “extra” golf balls and hole in one prize opportunities on the course. And if we all have any appetite at the awards presentation , the catered lunch is first class!
Mike I can’t enough kind words about you and all the friendly volunteers. It’s impressive at the support your community provides to the High School. Your tournament is so much better than any I have played in EVER! Keep up the great work, and if Lee and Dan Lemke invite me back next year, I’ll see you then.

Hello Mike, The Youth Benefit Golf Tournament plays a significant role in enriching and expanding the opportunities for youth in the Santiam Canyon. Previous scholarship recipients have gone on to post-secondary success, due in part to the support of this community event. These students know that they are surrounded by a community that cares for them. Also, the tournament has raised money to enrich rural youth opportunities in the arts, theater, athletics, outdoors, robotics and other various activities. The enjoyment of this event is only rivaled by the outcomes it has for area youth.

I am writing this letter in reference to Mike and Jan Long and all the efforts they have made to make the Youth Benefit Golf Tournament the success that it is. I am the PGA General Manager at Mallard Creek Golf & RV Resort and have been in the golf business for over 30 years. For you to fully understand what Mike and Jan have done for this event, you would really need to hear it firsthand from the players, sponsors and volunteers. They are remarkable! As a golf professional, I have worked with hundreds of tournament organizers, committees, and many wonderful people. But I’m telling you, there is something about the way Mike and Jan run their event that is different, and you have to experience it to really understand. They have created a family culture that makes everyone feel welcome and important. Operationally, their organization and efforts provide an atmosphere that the players love. Simply put, they are the kind of people you want to know. They bring out the best in you.
